Slowly getting the house furnished and decorated. I don’t want to ‘settle’ for the things that are going in this place, so we are taking our time. We would like for everything to be meaningful and/or purposeful.
At the base of our staircase there is this little nook, perfect as a landing zone for coats and bags. Remember the Craigslist storage bench that fit perfectly in the spot?
I wanted to add to the bench with a coat rack of some kind. Then one day while at my parents I found an old fence board my dad had taken down. It was old and damaged so he replaced it and was throwing it out. The damage was due to the Great Dane we had growing up, she would chew and claw at the tops of the boards when she wanted to jump over. There was no way I was going to let this board go to in the garbage. It was coming home with me. Then it dawned on me, this could be my coat rack!
I cleaned it up a little and sanded it down to get the splinters off. Then pulled 3 matching hooks from the hoard pile. Like it was meant to be!
The oversized IKEA clock found a comfy place above the hooks. I’m even thinking of painting the clock frame someday, but its good like this for now.
The coat rack addition was FREE. Zerrrrrrro dollars! Took me 20 minutes, and is much more meaningful to me than anything I could have found in a boutique store.
